“Luna Series #16,” by Alejandro Goya, artist and co-owner of Paia Contemporary Gallery, is a two panel (diptych) oil & mixed media painting. Although influenced by Dick Nelson’s Tri-Hue color theory, Goya’s work reflects his own method and unique conversation with color. This conversation is inclusive inviting you to immerse yourself in a color rich experience that is both vibrant and delicate, radiant and luminous. To achieve this level of color relationship with oils and only three colors is quite magic! This painting really deserves a front row seat! Trying to capture its essence via a computer screen is challenging; so please, stretch your imagination and sensitivities to do it justice.

For those of you not familiar with Dick Nelson's trademarked Tri-Hue Method of color theory and watercolor painting, he uses only three colors: cyan (a vivid blue), magenta
(a bright, deep pink) and yellow to create an unlimited color palette. His masterful use of color relationships and overlays create the illusion of veils, transparencies, and surface textures in amazingly luminous ways.

"It's the quality of luminosity which intrigues me and my love of seeing through one color to another," Nelson explains on his open resource educational web link at
http://dimensionsofcolor.com/ This site provides a treasure trove of information, insights, lesson plans, and even a "Tri-Hue Demo" that is fun to experiment with to help you better understand how three colors and black can produce such a vast array of color hues. Nelson studied at Yale with Josef Albers, the famous Bauhaus artist and colorist, which profoundly influenced the direction of his work.

Maui is fortunate to have on island such a respected Master artist and educator as Nelson. Obviously, his teachings on color theory found a receptive audience in artist, Alejandro Goya, who works in a variety of mediums in addition to holding a clear vision with fellow artist/musician and co-owner, Kenn Briner, to provide Maui’s Northshore with a first class Contemporary Gallery in the heart of old Paia town.

If we descend 41 octaves from our visual color palette, we will find ourselves in the middle of our auditory pathways of sound perception. We hear about 10 octaves of sound and see about one octave of light with our eyes. Music and color appreciation
involves the soul. As a class, we are continuing to explore this correlation with vocal toning and singing exercises combined with visual color imaging. We are learning
how to mix our own vibrational palette of color by directing specific tones and frequencies into our “rainbow encoded” energy body for healing and balancing.

Thank you for your continued interest in and support of this journey.

With Aloha....Suchi WB
Maui, Hawaii
Have you ever felt a “painting” reach out and touch all your senses simply by standing in front of it? In the language of vibrational consciousness, this level of communication would be considered reciprocal co-resonance similar to the concept of entrainment with the added harmonics of our emotional body. In recognizing the “aliveness” of Art, perhaps it would not be too big a stretch of the imagination to consider the two paintings above, “Caldera”(Pele’s Dance) and “Ponder Floating Worlds” are having a conversation with one another. Although they are not actually hanging in such close proximity to each other in the Paia Contemporary Gallery, still you get the feeling that they have a lot to say and indeed they do as artistic expressions of the life force of their co-creators, the artists and their muses. I can certainly attest to how deeply they spoke to each of us at our Tuesday night class.

We began our second class with a Color/Tonal Bath Meditation. A guided sound, color, scent inner journey through the embodied chakras activating our ability to discern where our energy is freely flowing and expansive and where it feels constricted or blocked. In staying true to our intention to co-create healing, harmony, and balance, it is important to know where the areas of dissonance and imbalance exist in ourselves. Once identified, the knowledge of tones, syllables, scents, and colors can be used as vibrational medicine readily available to all of us through the conscious healing power of our own voice and imagination.

Once we completed the meditation, we were asked to go stand in front of a painting that would help to heal our perceived imbalances. The powerful radiant reds of Walholm’s “Caldera” and the deep vibrant blues of Mitsuda’s “Ponder Floating Worlds” needed no words to impart their “harmeopathic remedies”. Hey, I think I just made up a word, but it seems to fit ...a natural blending of homeopathic and harmonic medicine.

In Hawaii, we are fortunate to live in a culture where the vowels sounds are still held “sacred.” Each vowel is spoken separately in the Hawaiian language with their sound tone pronunciation providing the perfect harmonic tuner for the rainbow body. Another reason to call “Hawaii,’’ the rainbow state. Each vowel sound and its natural overtone can be used to vibrate a specific area of the body or chakra. As we move up the color spectrum, we can explore the reflective qualities of gold and silver frequencies as well as the pastel hues of overtones.

If you want to try this for yourself, here are the vowels and the Hawaiian pronunciations, plus we added “ao” (ow) and “in” (sing) to complete the embodied seven chakra toning. Where do you feel these tones in your body?

HAWAIIAN PRONUNCIATION OF VOWELS
a sounds like [ah] as in above [ah buv]
e sounds like [eh] as in bet [beht]
i sounds like [ee] as in be [bee]
o sounds like [oh] as in obey [oh bei]
u sounds like [oo] as in rule [rool]

Whether or not you live on an island surrounded by water, we all have one thing in common. Our body and our planet is made up of approximately 70% of water, we are vibrational Beings living in an ever changing ocean of consciousness. To view the crystalline formations that appear on water when our thoughts are measured, read “The True Power of Water” and “The Hidden Messages in Water” by the international scholar Masaru Emoto. His research confirms that our thoughts and intentions influence water. This revelation has profound implications for our health and the well-being of our planet and beyond.

Thanks for tuning-in and toning-up with us....until next week, Tuesday, Oct. 20th.

With Aloha....Suchi WB
Maui, Hawaii

Who could ask for a more perfect setting for a sound, color, and art experience than the Paia Contemporary Gallery in Maui, Hawaii. Truly a feast for the eyes and food for the soul. Those of us physically present discovered new levels of communication using the elements of art and music combined with healing intention. It is my sincere hope that those of you who tuned-in and linked-up with us remotely also received some measure of enrichment from our connection.

We learned a little about the mechanics of our physical voice and explored the power of vowel sounds by droning and toning the energy body/chakra system. Discovering places where the frequency is blocked and where it flows freely is part of the conscious “self knowing” needed to live in a state of well-being. To develop our full spectrum potential, it is helpful to understand the parallel wavelengths that make up our vibrational body. In order to communicate more consciously and co-create fully in these multi-dimensional realms, we are focusing on expanding our vocabulary through experiential learning exercises. The language of art & music have the power to speak directly to our imprint for health when color, line, form, shape, texture, and value PLAY with melody, harmony, rhythm and the dynamics of voicing with healing intention.

The powerful three panel painting (triptych) you see above by artist, Wayan Karja was the focal point for our sensory poem writing exercise. I don’t know the exact size of the painting, but the three panels cover the entire back wall of the gallery. The depth of this painting invited us to freely jump into conversation with it through a natural exchange of sound and poetic verse which we did wholeheartedly.

As the time flew by, we said goodnight to the Gallery’s paintings by lifting our voices and spirits in song, singing Freedom. In preparation for our gathering next week, our assignment is to bring a “lullaby” to share with the group and spend this week focusing more consciously on the color and sounds that surround us. Those of you who would like to continue tuning-in with us, we welcome your Presence and invite you to share our week’s focus, if you so choose.

The intention set for this workshop is, “ To co-create a vortex of healing, harmony, & balance that transcends space and time.”

Thank you for helping to make this possible by your participation. Our next class is
Tuesday, October 13th (8:00 to 9:30pm Hawaii time) or whatever time zone and place
carries our connection home to you.

Aloha......Suchi WB
Maui, Hawaii
